Centro Italiano is reporting that Milan striker Alessandro Matri has ruptured his patellar tendon, which is one of the major injuries that can occur during the Europa League.

Matri is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks, with Juventus expected to pick up the slack.

He is expected back at full fitness in about six weeks.

According to Centro, Matri’s injury occurred at the end of the match between Inter and Palermo on Sunday, and he is not expected to return for the second leg of the tie against Lazio on October 10.

The 34-year-old is not known to have suffered a similar injury during his time with Lazio, which included two spells in Serie A in 2008 and 2010.
